Berry’s – 9 week update

Berry 9 weeks go.....

When we found Berry on the streets, she was in a world of pain with her skin as hard as stone and pieces flaking off, she was emaciated, her hips and ribs were protruding and it was clear she needed extensive treatment to ensure her survival.

Berry 7 weeks ago.....

Berry arrived at our staff member Tamsin's. On arrival she found an area of the garden which is secluded with a cubby area and found her safe place.

Berry - 5 weeks ago

Berry had come a long way in just 3 weeks at Tamsin's, her fur was really showing but the trust wasn't there, You can read Berrys progress at 5 weeks here.......Berry Tranformation at 5 weeks Blog

Berry at 5 weeks

Berry last 2 weeks

Over the last 2 weeks Berry has started to explore the garden for longer at a time, a huge step has been allowing Tamsin her fosterer to be in the garden at the same time as her without running and hiding in her safe place.

Berry has made friends with the neighbors cat, this has helped Berry gain a little confidence, especially when she see Tamsin and the cat together, she makes little noises, gets excited and becomes playful from a distance.

Berry has started to play in the garden, she will pick up and rip coconut leaves, last week Tamsin left a ball out and watched her pick it up and play, this is a great sign she is starting to feel a little more relaxed.

Berry has a very long way to go but we are so pleased with her progress in such a short time, learning to trust again after all she has been through can't be easy and step by step we will follow her on this new journey.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Dogstar Foundation to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Dogstar Foundation we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Dogstar Foundation to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Dogstar Foundation will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Dogstar Foundation receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Street dogs in Sri Lanka suffer from a variety of life-threatening skin conditions.

Worms, ticks, mites and other skin parasites, can be agonising for a street dog. Often, they will lose their fur, scratch until they bleed, or in some cases, scratch themselves to death.

The great news is with special skin care these dog’s lives can be transformed. Alongside our mobile field sterilisation clinic, Dogstar is running an ongoing monthly program to treat dogs with skin problems and other health issues in and around the Negombo area.

One treatment for one dog costs just £10.
