News of the Day – 10 February 2012.

Our regular Friday morning clinic today was sponsored by Inspire Sri Lanka – some of their volunteers came along to see the cases that were treated.  Thanks all!

Bindu came to the last clinic with a history of nasal swelling/bleeds but nothing significant was found on his blood smear. He’s better but not eating as well as everyone would like so was given further treatment.

Sudu has also not been eating well for around 2 weeks. Her anal glands were cleaned and she was given appropriate treatment. Cheeky young owner gives the camera a wink!

Female pup Pinky had her parvo vaccination today – what a lovely fluffy bundle!

Brother Scrappy also had his parvo vaccination. They will come back in 2 weeks for DHL vaccination.

Our amputation case Milo had her wound covering removed today.  She’s healed very well but will stay at Dogstar until Monday.

Milo was a big hit with the volunteers from Inspire!

‘Brown’ has a large haematoma (right ear) which will be removed surgically at Dr. P’s clinic tomorrow.

Dr. P and Sampath then went to see a dog in nearby Kalugalla suffering from bite wounds. He’ll be fine now his wounds have been cleaned and treatment given.

Following the end of the clinic, Mo and Sampath went out to put up some posters asking for new homes for Chester and Dingo.

Hiriwadunna street dog Chloe will be brought to the next Sirius clinic – no more pups for her!

This little one – now called Fleur – was treated for a bite wound at Dogstar House on Monday. Her wound is well healed so today she had worm and flea treatment and Dogstar will start trying to find a new home.

Fleur’s companion at Randeniya Temple – Tinka – also had routine worm and flea treatment.

Temple kitten Nero does not look too healthy so we will do a thorough check with Dr. Dilrukshi at Sunday’s mobile clinic.

These are the 2 caring men from the council offices where Milo lives. They came to see her again today – and brought some yoghurt for her, Chester and Dingo! They are excited to know Milo can go home Monday.
